Audible Canada is the most popular audiobook service in Canada.

It is owned by Amazon.

It offers over half of million titles.

Audiobooks from the Kindle Audible Canada can be played on all recent Kindle e-readers. Also, audiobooks can be played through the Audible App on other electronic devices such as tablets and smartphones.

Users can download or stream audiobooks from the Audible website.

Downloading of an audiobook is done in the same way as downloading other digital audio files such as songs. The only difference is that audiobook files are larger than digital files of songs. A typical audiobook requires around 150 MB of storage space, and a larger audio book can take up to 1GB.

Audible Canada, Prime Reading, and Kindle Unlimited are all subscription-based services from Amazon. They are not the same service since there are a few significant differences between them.

Prime Reading and Kindle Unlimited services are a good choice for users who prefer to read ebooks while Kindle Audible Canada is a great choice for users who prefer to listen to audiobooks.

Audible Canada Free Trial

Kindle Audible Canada offers a 30-day free trial to new members. Kindle Audible Canada will offer two free audio books during a free trial.

It is a good idea to try Audible Canada free trail first before paying any money for the subscription.

When you sign a free trial on Audible, you can test the service for 30 days and find out if it is the right fit for your needs.

Signing the Audible Canada trail is an easy process. Canceling the Audible trial Canada is easy as well.

If you cancel your subscription at the end of the 30 day free trial you can still keep the audiobooks.

Does Amazon Prime include Audible?

No, Amazon Prime doesn’t include an Audible Canada subscription but you will be able to borrow audiobooks from Audible as a member of Prime Reading.

Amazon Prime automatically includes a Prime Reading subscription for free. With a Prime Reading subscription, you are entitled to borrow up to ten titles including e-books and audiobooks. 

It is similar to borrowing books from the public library: you borrow up to ten titles and you can keep them as long as you wish but sooner or later you have to return them.

Prime Reading members can choose e-books from a selection of over a thousand titles, which is only a fraction of e-books available from the Kindle Store for purchase.

Many of the eBooks that are available for Prime Reading members also have Whispersync for Voice audiobook companions. 

If you find an audiobook companion that is available for Prime Reading members, you can borrow it for free.

The selection of audiobooks available for Prime Reading members is currently very small. It is a tiny fraction of audiobooks available from Audible.

When you return your e-book, your audiobook companion will be automatically returned at the same time.

Amazon Audible Canada

The audiobooks industry has been rapidly increasing since 2013. Amazon Audible Canada is the largest producer and provider of audiobooks and other spoken-word content in Canada.

Audiobooks are made in a few different formats including WMA, AAC, and MP3. You need to check which formats your digital device uses before you download any audio book. 

Not every digital device can play the same file format.

You can download audio books from Amazon Audible Canada directly to any recent Kindle e-book reader or through the Audible app on Kindle Fire tablets.

You can play any audiobook from Amazon Audible Canada on all recent models of Kindle e-readers. 

Also, it is easy to switch between listening to an audiobook and reading a text book with the use of the Whispersync for Voice feature on Kindle devices.

Audible launched an audiobook service in Canada in September 2017. The service that is dedicated to Canadians includes original programs and many new titles from Canadian authors in English and French. 

It is a bilingual website that includes a broad selection of best-sellers. Amazon Audible Canada is planning to produce more audiobooks every year from Canadian writers using Canadian actors as narrators.

The Audible feature is integrated into all recent versions of Kindle devices including Kindle Oasis, Kindle Paperwhite, Kindle Signature, and Kindle basic model.

Audible Canada Price

Audible Canada price of a subscription is 14.95 Canadian dollars per month.

Before 2017 (when Audible launched the audiobook service in Canada), customers from Canada were able to use only American Audible and therefore they were charged in US dollars. Now, everything on Canadian Audible is listed in Canadian dollars. 

Costs of subscription and audiobooks on Audible Canada are identical to the costs on American Audible – that means the prices are cheaper on Audible Canada when factoring conversion Canadian to US dollar. 

For example, Audible Canada price of membership is 14.95 Canadian dollars a month while the American Audible price of membership is 14.95 US dollars a month.

Canadian users who choose to stay with American Audible will not be forced to move to Canadian Audible.

Audible Membership Canada

There are several different levels of Audible membership in the USA. Audible Canada offers only one type of membership, one that costs $14.95 a month and allows you to download one audiobook per month.

Audible Canada does not accept Amazon gift cards.

You do not need to be a member to buy audiobooks. However, members are entitled to one free audiobook per month and a 30% discount on additional audiobook purchases. Members also get a few Audible books for streaming for free.

Members can use their Audible credit to purchase a title for someone else.

Public libraries are not able to purchase copies of the Audible-produced Canadian audiobooks for lending to clients since these audiobooks are available only to members of Audible Canada.

Cancel Audible Canada

Cancel Audible Canada membership directly from the Audible desktop site. Audible subscriptions cannot be canceled from a mobile site or via the Audible app.

To cancel membership go to the Audible Canada website and sign in to your account. Click on “Account Details” and then click on “View membership details” and finally click on “Cancel membership”. Follow instructions on the screen.

After cancellation, you will receive a confirmation e-mail.

If you have any unused credits on your account you should use them before cancellation. Any unused credits will be cancelled along with membership. So use it or lose it.

When you cancel membership you can still keep all your Audible audiobooks in your library and access them any time you wish.

Audible Immersion Reading

Immersion Reading is reading and listening to a book at the same time. That is reading an e-book and listening to an audiobook together with real-time highlighting.

There are many audiobooks from the Audible which are Whyspersync for Voice and Immersion Reading enabled.

To enjoy in Immersion Reading feature you need to have both versions of the book: e-book from Kindle Store and its audiobook companion from Audible.

Not all reading devices support the Immersion Reading feature. You need to check if your device supports Immersion Reading before purchasing books.

Immersion Reading is not available on all Kindle e-book readers including Kindle Paperwhite, Kindle Oasis, and Kindle basic model.

Most Amazon Fire tablets (recent releases) support Immersion Reading. Immersion Reading is also available on other tablets or smartphones via Kindle App for iOS or Kindle App for Android.
